shop sample: Llano pullover handknit sweater

striped and textured pullover handknit sweater modeled by woman

Llano by Dawn Barker is a pullover handknit sweater that uses assigned pooling dyed yarn to create color movement and texture. This boat neck, drop shoulder pullover is knit in one piece from sleeve cuff to cuff and seemed up the sides and arms. The knitting direction and yarn dye pattern create vertical striping. Assigned pooling arises when a change in stitch and texture is assigned to changes in color within a skein of yarn. In Llano's design, smooth Stockinette Stitch is assigned to the background color and Sprout Stitch is assigned to the accent color.

Our sample was knit by Sarah using Tosh Merino Light in a Madelinetosh x Barker Wool Collaboration assigned pooling color. The single-ply 100% superwash merino knits up in a lightweight fabric, making a very wearable and visually striking sweater.
